Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez has been nominated for the 2016 FIFA player of the year award along with Ronaldo, Messi and teammate Jamie Vardy.

The Algerian’s performances for English side Leicester City has earned him a place in the 2016 FIFA player of the Year nominees list.

The 25-year-old had an incredible season with Leicester City, scoring 18 goals and assisting 10 as the Foxes won a historic Premier League title.

It’s worth mentioning that African player of the year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was ignored despite his impressive season with Borussia Dortmund. The Gabonese scored 39 goals and assisted 12, helping Dortmund finishing second in the Bundesliga.
