Ayesha, Northerh Region Representative making a presentation
Samara Company Limited, producers of Sasso Insecticide Spray and Coil, has donated 30,000 Sasso branded exercise books and pens to 5,000 pupils selected from 20 basic and Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Northern, Upper East and West Regions.
According to the Marketing Manager of Samara Company Limted, Sedrick Ologo, the donation, which forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to promote quality basic education in the country, was made in collaboration with the three contestants who represented the regions in 2015 in the beauty pageant of TV3 dubbed, ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful.’
Mr. Ologo mentioned the contestants as Nimatu Hadoun Ibrahim, Patience Azure Adongo and Iddrisu Mahama Ayesha, who represented the Upper West, East and the Northern Regions respectively.
The Marketing Manager was happy that over 250,000 copies of the branded exercise books and pens had so far been distributed to pupils nationwide since the project started in 2014.
“We are willing to continue to support these children as long as the company remains in business. We have seen the positive impact this gesture has had and continue to have on the pupils and therefore we are committed to this cause,” he stated.
He mentioned that each of the three Northern regions was allocated 10,000 branded exercise books and writing materials (pens and pencils) which were distributed to the pupils.
The beneficiary schools in the Northern Region included Sawla D/A Basic School, St Paul’s Suguru R/C Basic School, Walewale D/A Basic School, Iddrisuya Islamic Basic School, Nakpaye D/A Basic School, Kpembe TI Ahmadiya Basic School, Salaga D/A Basic School and Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale.
In the Upper East Region, beneficiary schools were Ansarut Islamic Basic School, Mognori Basic School, Bawku Senior High School, Sandema Secondary Technical, Afoko Basic School, St John Bosco Basic School, Methodist Basic School, Yarigabisi Basic School, Kulibeo Tintosobligo Basic School and Akantome Basic School.
Schools in Upper West included Wa School for the Deaf, Fallahia Islamic Basic School, Nadowli R/C Basic School, St Anthony Model Basic School, St Joseph Basic School, Lawra Methodist Basic School, Monyupelle D/A Basic School, Lambussie D/A Basic School, Zini Basic School, Pepilime Basic School and Wasei Basic School.
The former Minister for the Upper West Region, Alhaji Amindu Sulemana, lauded the company for the initiative, adding that it would improve the standard of education in the region and country at large.
