SalifuĀ  Saeed at the Jubilee Park parade

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, has stressed that the region can no long waste its energy and resources on conflict issues in the area.

According to him, the region is having challenges with diseases, underdevelopment and poverty and therefore, cannot dissipate the scarce resources on conflict resolution.

He has therefore, appealed to opinion leaders and traditional rulers to support him with prayers to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Mr Saeed sent a warning note to those fomenting troubles in the region that the security agencies would not allow them to continue with that, indicating that the law would deal with them drastically.

The regional minister gave this stern warning during Ghanaā€™s 60th independence anniversary parade at the Jubilee Park in Tamale yesterday.

Twenty-seven schools were at the parade.

The rest of the schools in the Tamale metropolis took part in the celebration in the Sagnarigu District.

Several security personnel and students fainted whiles the celebration was ongoing at the Jubilee Park.

The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, told DAILY GUIDE that peace in the region is one of the key issues and that the youth should stop causing troubles.

According to him, those who are not chiefs but have turned themselves into chieftaincy contractors should desist from it and allow the Northern Region in particular and Ghana in general to develop.

He indicated that President Akufo-Addoā€™s government wants to develop the region but if there is no peace, development cannot take place.
