The Adenta Divisional police have finally arrested two suspected armed robbers who allegedly stabbed two taxi drivers after snatching their vehicles from them at Adenta-Frafraha, a suburb of Accra.

The two suspects were apprehended yesterday together with their receiver in a special operation.

The suspected robbers are Courage Klutse, aged 25, Bright Amuzu, 28, and Belly Jelius is the alleged receiver of the stolen items.

Another suspect, yet to be identified, is currently at large and is being wanted by the police.

The Adenta Divisional Police Commander, ACP Antwi Gyawu who briefed the media, said on March 28, 2017, at about 4am,  Courage Klutse and  Bright Amuzu, together with their  accomplice whose identity is not yet known,  hired the service of Isaac Okyere, a driver of Kia Picanto taxi with registration number GW 9167-16, from Circle to Frafraha.

On reaching Baron Area, the suspects, who were armed with a knife, attacked and stabbed the driver in the back.

They then pushed him off the moving car and sped off with it.

According to ACP Gyawu, the helpless victim was later rescued and rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he is currently on admission receiving treatment, while a report was later lodged with the police.

The three suspects, he said, drove the vehicle to Belly Julius’ house where they gave the vehicle to him to sell.

Bello Julius also took it to Ho in the Volta Region and parked it in a house owned by one Eric Tey.

The police, with the assistance of a vehicular tracker device of Bayport Financial Services, the original owners of the cab tracked the vehicle to the house of Eric Tey where the vehicle was parked and he was arrested.

Whilst investigation was ongoing, Julius Bello contacted the police through an intermediary on phone and stated that Eric Tey was innocent of the crime and promised to assist in apprehending the real culprits.

On March 31, 2017, Bello Julius contacted Courage Klutse, Bright Amuzu and the third accomplice, and informed them that he (Bello)  has a friend at Ashiaman who wanted a taxi to buy.

The suspects then promised to get him one as soon as possible.

On April 1, 2017 at about 1am, the three paddies again hired the service of one Santana Mashana, driver of a Kia Picanto with registration number GW 527-16, from Spintex to Oyarifa area in Accra.

On reaching a spot called Ankonam, the suspects attacked and stabbed the driver’s left palm with a knife and robbed him of the vehicle.

They then drove the vehicle to a distance and called on Bello Julius to meet them for the car.

Unknown to them, the police were with their accomplice and when they were about presenting the vehicle to the receiver, they were arrested at Ashiaman Mataheko.

Suspects Courage Klutse and Bright Amuzu were arrested but their third accomplice escaped.

Both vehicles have been recovered by the police and would be used as exhibits
