Dogboe points to the air after being decorated with his belt

Isaac Dogboe produced a spirited showing to stop his Argentine challenger Javier Nicolas Chacon in round seven of their WBO International Super Bantamweight title final eliminator on Saturday night in Accra.

The visitor could not respond to the round seven bell after his corner signaled that their boxer had broken the wrist.

Dogboe, 22, pursued his opponent from start till the sixth round. His brilliance, endeared him to the massive crowd, with one of his jabs opening a cut on top of Chacon’s left eye; making the South American bleed thereafter.

An elated Dogboe (Royal Storm) said “Chacon is a very tough fighter, he can move his head very well, but irrespective of that I know that I will take him down.”

He added: “I’m ready for the world title because that has been my target from day one.”

Ex President John Rawlings, a key fan of Dogboe said after the bout “Dogboe is a hot and strong boxer. He was obviously the best fighter on the day and I’m glad he won.

“It will take him a while to reach Azumah’s standard but he has got the potential to be like Azumah Nelson. Let’s hope and pray that he becomes the great boxer we all expect him to be”, Rawlings said.

The win, Dogboe which improves his fight record to 17-0 inches him closer to a world title which he has promised to deliver.
