The maiden edition of the Ghana Energy Awards will be held on November 30, 2017 at the Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme, ‘Re-defining Excellence.
Twenty awards are up for grabs, according to Henry Teinor, a member of the Energy Awards Group, organizers of the prestigious event.
Addressing journalists at the Challenge House located at Abelemkpe, Accra recently, Chairman of the Panel, Dr. Kwame Ampofo, mentioned that the various categories would serve the interests of stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
These are Petroleum and Power sub categories, Upstream and Downstream Sectors and Apex Awards, among others.
They include Leadership Award, Energy Personality of the year, CEO of the Year, Emerging Energy Company of the Year, Institution and Rising Star of the Year.
The rest are Industry Leadership Award, Best Energy reporter, Life Time achievement, Brand of the year, Bulk Oil Distribution Company (BDC), Renewable Energy Company, Corporate Social Responsibility, Energy Financial Provider, Consulting, Engineering and Consultancy providers of the year respectively.
According to Nicholas Frimpong-Manso, CEO of Energy Media Group and Managing Partner GP Business Associates, nominations would close on September 30, 2017.
According to the organizers, all entries must be sent through the Ghana Energy Awards website.
Members of the panel include Kwame Ampofo, former Chairman Energy Commission, Prof. Stephen Adei, Dean of Arts and Sciences, Ashesi University, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, renowned evangelist and Prof. Joseph Aggrey Fynn, Director, Institute of Oil and Gas University of Cape Coast.
The rest are Dr Jemima Nunoo, Ag Director, Centre for Management Development, GIMPA, Kwame Jantuah, lawyer and Energy Consultant, Prof Felix Asante, Director of ISSER and Harriete Amissah-Arthur, Executive Partner, Arthur Energy Advisor
Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, in a brief remark, indicated that the awards would motivate players in the oil and gas industry.
“This is a good effort by the organizers and to me it’s important for all to offer their support for this, as well as other upcoming events,” he stated.
