The suspected fake police
PRINCE BAAH, a 25-year-old resident of Koforidua-Okorase in the Eastern Region, is currently in police grips for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
The suspect, who reportedly claimed he’s a policeman from Kumasi, was seen wearing a police uniform on the streets of Koforidua where he was grabbed upon a tip-off.
He told the police that he got the uniform from a policeman stationed at Kumasi and Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, but bought the other accoutrements at Asawase in Kumasi.
The Public Relations Officer of the Regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who briefed the media, said during a search conducted in Prince Baah’s room, items like a blue-black beret with crest number 50721 bearing his name (Prince Baah), a pair of long black boots, a bayonet, a specimen charge book, a camouflage, black and blue-black police uniforms with Lang Yang, were found.
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh added that a police belt with ammunition porch containing two body sprays which looked like a pepper spray, Taser and a police flashlight were also retrieved.
In another development, a farmer, Kwaku Kamesah, 20, has been arrested by the regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit, (DOVSSU) of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly raping a woman pregnant for three months who was drunk, at Akyem Maase in the East Akyem municipality.
The victim, Augustina Azilakor, 25 years of age, according to police report, went to a drinking spot where she bought and drank some local liquor (‘akpeteshie’), only to wake up the following day to find herself in the bed of the suspect, having been sexually abused.
Kwaku Kamesah, currently in police custody, told the law enforcers that he found the victim intoxicated and decided to offer her assistance by taking her to his house for safety.
ASP Tetteh said the suspect had admitted having canal knowledge of the pregnant woman because he was also drunk. He asserted that the police had launched a manhunt for one Nana to assist with investigations.
