Dr Mrs Mary Ashun, Principal of the Ghana International School (GIS), has celebrated her 49th birthday by holding a fundraising event to support her charities- His Majesty’s Christian School, Enough Inc. and Teach for Ghana.
Dr Mrs. Ashun, who hosted her family, friends and classmates at the Paradise Hill Gardens in Kwahu Abetifi, expressed her desire to support children to leave a legacy.
She said the charities have so far enhanced teaching and learning in rural Ghana.

She said His Majesty’s Christian school in Asamankese which she established together with her husband with Canadian Development grant, is making strides, with the students performing excellently in the West Akyem District.
“It is now in its fifth year and going strong with over 100 students, and I am impressed with how they read and write and it cheers me up,” she said.
Dr. Mrs. Eshun further noted that the Enough Inc Charity aims at solving educational related problems.
She explained that a huge number of students, particularly girls, miss school due to the lack of toilet facilities.
“We want to build as many toilets for schools as possible so the children can always be in school and we need your support to do this,” she averred.
She also called for support for Teach for Ghana project, which helps to bring students from top universities to teach in rural Ghana for two years.
“It costs $2,500 a year to support one teacher and although only 40 percent of these students remain in teaching field after their programme, 60 percent, who do not stay in profession, move into other careers,” she said.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Dr Mrs Mary Ashun said on her 48th birthday, she raised money for education and offered gifts, but decided to write a song from one of the many poems this year.
“I created the song and recorded it with my friend Nadia, and today I am going to launch the song to raise funds for my projects,” she said.
She also expressed her gratitude to all who support her charities in diverse ways.
