The Stone That The Builders Rejected ………!

Staring at them, Yesu Kristo said, “Then what is the meaning of this text of scripture: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone? Everyone who falls on that stone will be crushed. And the stone will crush the person it falls on”– Luke 20:17-18

Many examples that prove the truism of the scripture above can be cited. One that readily comes to mind in contemporary times is President Nana Dee’s most recent nomination for the position of Special Prosecutor (SP). Martin A.B.K. Amidu, aka Citizen Vigilante, is the man I refer to.

We all saw how his own party folks tried in vain to give him a bad name in order to hang him. I remember vividly how it was splashed on the front pages of the state owned newspapers and the private owned “rented press” that the Citizen Vigilante had been sacked as Attorney-General (A-G) for insubordination. He was virtually disowned by his own party and declared persona non grata.

I also remember how the Citizen Vigilante held his peace and said subsequent events would vindicate him. Indeed, we all saw how his desire to fight corruption led him to the Supreme Court (SC) against Woyome and the A-G. His victory at the SC, and his various write-ups referred to as “epistles”, helped in clearing the fogs in our minds. It became obvious to all and sundry that the man was not sacked for insubordination. Rather, he was sacked to pave way for “greedy bastards” to continue milking the cow.

It is an understatement to say his patriotic actions won him the admiration of his compatriots. He became a national hero. The resultant effect is President Nana Dee choosing him as the SP. The overwhelming acceptance of the President’s choice shows the trust people have in the Citizen Vigilante.

Of course, there are few dissenting voices, mostly from his party folks. Some say his relationship with the party is currently sour, so he might engage in vindictiveness against his party folks. Others too say he lacks the requisite temperament for such a position. Whatever they mean by that is a mystery to many.

Without a doubt, the choice of the Citizen Vigilante as SP has sent shivers down many spines. Kofi Adams was among the first to pour cold water on his nomination. He gave all manner of reasons for his dissent, but I’m yet to see sense in any of his reasons.

General Ntontom was also on air shouting his voice hoarse that the nomination of the Citizen Vigilante clearly shows that the Osono government has an agenda. Of course, there is an agenda. The agenda is to fish out those engaged in “create, loot and share” schemes and punish them severely, to serve as deterrent to others.

Many others in the Zu-za fraternity could also be heard saying the Citizen Vigilante is no longer one of their own. So what? Whether a member of their party or not, it is refreshing that the man’s integrity cannot be doubted by anyone. What more can we demand as requirement for such a position?

I must be quick to add that not all members of the Umbrella family are worried about his nomination. I listened to Hon. Inusah Fuseini when he spoke on the issue and I could feel genuine excitement in his voice. He was excited because he knows his hands are not tainted. So he is not afraid of the Citizen Vigilante or anyone for that matter.

Hon. Inusah, however, had a word of caution for all, including those in the current administration. Listen to him: “Martin Amidu will even fight an empty room if he feels the air in the room is corrupt.”

If I were an appointee of the current government, I would take Hon. Inusah’s words seriously. For a man who could sacrifice his position as A-G for his conviction, prosecuting anyone for corruption would surely not be difficult.

Indeed, the decision by the President to opt for a man of unquestionable integrity speaks volumes. I see the President sending one message to all his appointees: You are on your own if you are caught in any act of corruption. For the Citizen vigilante is an untamed lion.

As for those talking of witch-hunting, I once again remind them that it is only witches and wizards who tremble at the mention of witch-hunters. In any case, financial witches and wizards deserve to be hunted, don’t they?

This is the beginning of a new dawn where the fight against corruption is no longer a rhetoric. The days of using stooges to fight corruption are over. The Citizen Vigilante will fight corruption and fight it relentlessly. And what a fight that would be!

I suspected 2018 would be interesting. But not in my wildest dream did I imagine it would be this interesting!

See you next week for another interesting konkonsa, Deo volente!
