Bawumia’s Brother Exposes NDC

ELDER BROTHER of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief Dauda Mandiaya Bawumia, has dismissed claims by some oppositional National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) propagandists that his junior brother, Dr. Bawumia has abandoned him.

Former President John Mahama visited Chief Dauda Mandiaya Bawumia at his private residence at Lapaz, a suburb of Accra, recently to ostensibly commiserate with him (Mandiaya Bawumia) on his reported ill health.

After the said visit, social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp were awashed with photos of Mr. Mahama and Mandiaya Bawumia at his residence, with reports by NDC propagandists seeking to score cheap political goals for Mr. Mahama.

The reports sought to paint a picture that Mr. Mahama is more concerned about the well being of the Vice President’s elder brother than the Vice President himself and that Dr. Bawumia had failed to cater for his own brother. It was even reported that Mahama had never paid a visit to Mandiaya Bawumia when he was vice president and subsequently President of the Republic.

Some political analysts described the former President’s move as mischief aimed at causing disaffection for Dr. Bawumia.

But speaking to journalists at his residence over the issue, Mandiaya Bawumia explained that there had been no point in time when his younger brother, touted as one of the finest economists in Ghana, had abandoned him or their family.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia has been very supportive of his upkeep ever since he became ill and wondered why people could use his ill health for propaganda.

He explained that claims that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had abandoned him since he fell ill a year ago, were the political propagandists’ fig of imagination and evil intention bent on making mincemeat out of his ailment by creating sharp division between him and his younger brother.

“I am an adult above 60 years, how can I be talking about somebody abandoning me? All my brothers and sisters, including the Vice President have been very supportive, so it is not true that anybody has abandoned me,” he said.

He added that “All of them have been here to see me including Mahammudu and Baba. Even when he is outside the country, he makes contacts to find out how I am faring. There is a difference between politics and the family…after politics the family is still intact.”

He clarified that “I want to use this medium to tell the whole world that I have not been abandoned and such claims must immediately be treated with the contempt they deserve.”
