A three-year-old boy met his untimely death at Swedru in the Agona West municipality of the Central Region on Sunday when a school building reportedly collapsed on him.
According to information, 30 others were injured following a rainstorm that caused the collapse of the building.
According to an eyewitness, Nana Mensah, the congregation were holding service when the incident occurred.
He claimed that the injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.
“Covenant Temple Ministry was shielding the children from the rainstorm when its roof collapsed,” he added.
Mensah revealed that it took the intervention of some personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service to get persons trapped under the rubble removed.
The regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has estimated that over 600 residents may have been affected by the rainstorm, with many rendered homeless.
The NADMO Control Officer, Joseph Kojo Appiah, hinted that the church building totally collapsed.
Mr Appiah stated that about seven other people were also injured at various communities in the region.
