Okyenhene Counsels Akyem– Muoso Chief

Barima Ofori Afam Kyekeku

The Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has tasked the newly-installed chief of Akyem-Muoso to live in peace with his elders and subjects to ensure the socio-economic development of the area.

The Okyenehene, who doubles as President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, made this known when Barima Ofori Afam Kyekeku II, a 61-year-old businessman, pledged allegiance to him.

He said he would not condone any form of disrespect, arrogance and misconduct by any chief or elder under his jurisdiction.

The new chief of Muoso in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional area, known in private life as Lawrence Kwasi Ofori, is married with six children.

Barima Ofori Afam Kyekeku was installed after the incumbent chief of Muoso was destooled by Okyenhene for showing disrespect to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council last week.

The Okyenehne, the overlord of Okyeman, further tasked the new chief to seek dialogue rather than litigation, which has been outlawed under his jurisdiction.

The Okyenehene also promised to support initiatives that are geared towards bringing development to Muoso.

Barima Ofori Afam Kyekyeku II, in an interview, reiterated his commitment to promoting education in the community and beyond.

The new chief pledged to liaise with the mining companies in the community to cover all pits in the area that had been abandoned by illegal miners, popularly known as ‘galamseyers.’
