Akpene Diata Hoggar
Akpene Diata Hoggar, a representative of Brong-Ahafo Region, has been crowned Miss Universe Ghana 2018.
This was at this year’s pageant held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on Saturday evening. The model, blogger and entrepreneur beat nine other contestants to emerge the ultimate winner.
She was followed by Vanessa Tekor Akuetteh, a budding paralegal and a model, who represented the Western Region.
The 2018 Miss Universe Ghana was organised by Maltz Promotions, headed by Menaye Donkor, who is also a former winner of the competition.
The event was attended by a number of showbiz personalities like Yvonne Okoro, Nikki Samonas, Sandra Ankobiah, Akuma Mama Zimbi, Zynnell Zuh and host of others.
Yvonne Nelson and Shirley Frimpong Manso were among judges for the event, which was hosted by Nathaniel Attoh.
There were also interesting performances from ‘CCTV’ hitmaker, King Promise and Adina.
The event was broadcast live on Joy Prime.
Prior to this years’ Miss Universe Ghana, the pageant had suffered a number of setbacks, with queens suing organisers for failing to give prize packages.
This year, the new organiser promised the ultimate winner a brand new car, a one-year contract with the Lab Modeling Agency in Milan, Italy, one-year contract as the face of So Aesthetic, one year supply of GTP (Woodin) fabrics, make-up products for one year, GH¢10,000 worth of shoes from Shoe Zone and one- year hair services and spa treatments from First Choice Beauty Salon.
Miss Universe Ghana 2018 also gets the exclusive ticket to represent Ghana at this year’s international pageant to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in December.
