Ayorkor Botchwey Meets Cuban Counterpart

Minister for Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, who was on a five-day working visit to Cuba, is expected home today.

While in Cuba, the Ghanaian Foreign Minister held discussions with her Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, bordering on the diplomatic and bilateral relations between the two countries and signed some agreements with her host.

The minister also held discussions with the Cuban Minister for Trade & Foreign Investment, H.E Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, and toured the Jose Marti Museum and laid a wreath in his memory.

The visit was at the invitation of the Cuban Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

Ghana established diplomatic relations with Cuba 59 years ago and relations have flourished over the years.

While Cuba has for decades supported Ghana in the areas of healthcare and education. Ghana has also remained an ardent campaigner against the economic blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States of America.

The visit by the minister is expected to strengthen the long-cherished ties of friendship between the two nations.
