Patients of the Orthopedic Training Center (OTC) at Nsawam were not left out of the Christmas holiday celebrations as George Darko Foundation donated items to them on Tuesday.
The foundation which was established by Ghana’s tennis star based in the US, George Darko, presented food items, toiletries, water and other valuable items to the OTC.
A team of tennis players who form part of Members of the foundation (locally managed by Hilda Naa Akushika Addoquay) led by Darko’s sister, Adjei Michelle Twumwaa and Auntie Janet Osei, were all present at the donation.
Speaking at the presentation, Michelle Twumwaa inspired the OTC patrons to be like George Darko by not giving up on what they do.
“George is the type that never gives up, no matter the circumstances he finds himself in. So he, through the George Darko Foundation, decided to bring a little happiness to the children at the centre,” Twumwaa said.
She added, “He hopes that through this donation, some happiness will be brought to all the children here,” she added.
The OTC patrons lauded the George Darko Foundation for their kind gesture and prayed that he continues to excel in everything he does.
George Darko is the only Ghanaian to have won the National Ranking for three consecutive times. He won the McDan West Africa Tennis Competition in 2015 before claiming gold in the Men’s Doubles at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo-Brazzaville.
He represented Ghana on two occasions at the Davis Cup Africa Zone Group III. George Darko earned 1,724 points at the end of ATP-World Ranking Singles in 2015.
