‘Probity, Accountability’ Again?

Someone seeking to lead a lost umbrella’s return wishfully thinks ‘probity, accountability’ will bring NDC back to power’ ‘Agyaei! ‘I can hear some people exclaim in hurting pain from hearing a congressperson shouting the phrase ‘probity and accountability.’ The exclaimer is certain to also ask ‘for where?’ meaning how dare any congressperson mouth that phrase? It’s like opening a scar into a wound and rubbing salt in it. It is the most hypocritical act for anyone of the congress stock to mention those words as campaign for the votes of my compatriots.

The call is uncalled for. One expects a potential national leader to realise congress of the provisional and national simply conned the motherland through bugabuga probity and accountability in a series of actions that nearly completely destroyed this motherland. It is as surprising as it is shocking. He should know that apart from his stock (which itself would be divided over the use of that phrase), no independent voter would associate congress with ‘probity and accountability.’

Let him rather confess ‘sikadiciousness’, ‘amp?br?’ and incompetence – the true legacies of congress. Let him plead that he seeks to correct those, and maybe, just maybe, someone would listen. I wonder how he feels about the over-dramatisation of ‘brutalisation’ for sympathy or empathy as if none of those has ever happened in Ningo-Prampram primaries.

Attention should be on awareness of the horrifying legacy of sham assets declaration and the chapter of transition in immunity cast in constitutional stone. To all intents and purposes, my compatriots know those provisions were surreptitiously smuggled dead in the night to undermine probity and accountability. That one smuggling act has slowed the motherland’s progress to less than snail pace in comparison with the 5G speed others are advancing with in a digitized 21st Century.

For emphasis, in the First Schedule, Transitional Provisions 37 is written: ‘Notwithstanding anything in Chapter 25 (Amendment of the Constitution) of this Constitution, Parliament shall have no power to amend this section or sections 34 and 35 of this Schedule.’ Both 34 and 35 indemnifying all constitution overthrow treasonable acts, except the May 15, 1979 putsch which failed, as at January 6, 1993.

Any mention of a combination of probity, accountability as an ideal without further explanation for fuller understanding is unhelpful. From my child study and educational psychology classes, added to my life experiences as a teacher and an individual/member of community, there is orderliness and there is discipline. It’s a matter of do as I say orderliness versus internalized voluntary I have to do it because it is the right thing.

A future president’s father taught our T2 Child Study class the basic difference between militaristic orderliness and educationally inculcated discipline. He made us read Jean Jacques Rousseau who wrote ‘man is born free but everywhere he is in chains.’

Congress did not succeed in fostering either. Instead, the group firmly planted in public service, self-service, greed and avarice which together moulded development crippling incompetence. Congress’ idea of governance is feeding off the public purse through all kinds of procurement strategies, without advancing the public cause.

Martin A. B. K. Amidu once wrote: (May 28, 2012) ‘Spinning can never win the NDC the elections. Only integrity can.’ NDC won but we all now know unfairly from the 2012 Election Petition. Major Boakye-Gyan and his 1979 true believers in probity and accountability today know the ideals were words that none of them participants realise can be a foundation for an NDC administration in this motherland.

The former intellectual Major and his group have watched unbelievably and with regret the AFRC ideals being submerged in the actions and inaction of their successor P/NDC to create loot and share the national purse as booty in the most corrupt political outfit ever fabricated in the history of this motherland.

Congress sees Ayawaso West Wuogon as an elitist seat they cannot win without stealing. They always organize to disenfranchise university students. They once stole (confirmed by court ruling) it, through Adotey from Amo for one whole term of Parliament. I am sure now congress people know people will not sit by for them to steal any election again, not ever, in this motherland.

Congress, please go tell probity and accountability to whoever, and if none ever then to whatever you will find on Mars oo. Don’t tell it to any sane person in this motherland because they of sound mind would not listen so they might hear. Let alone are my compatriots prepared to entertain that kind of your talk. They have heard and seen too much of that nothingness to allow themselves to be hoodwinked one terrible more time.
