President Akufo-Addo has congratulated the SDA Church during Valley View University’s 25th Congregation and 40th anniversary celebration at Oyibi in Accra last weekend.
The President’s words were conveyed to the Church and the university via Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia who represented him during the occasion.
Dr.Bawumia on behalf of his boss commended the efforts of the SDA Church as pioneers in private tertiary education and partners with government to run educational institutions in the development of our human resources.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration continues to create the enabling environment to assist private universities in Ghana, Dr. Bawumia said.
In 2017, the Government waived the 25% corporate tax on private universities.
Valley View University was started 40 years ago with only 20 students and today they have 9000. They did not listen to the naysayers and today they are ranked 7th amongst all universities in Ghana. We should never be dissuaded from pursuing our dreams.
He informed the congregation that cabinet has approved the policy of a centralized system for university admission as pertains in countries such as the United Kingdom. This new platform will improve the efficiency of the university admissions process for both public and private universities. He congratulated the graduating class of 2019.
