Samuel L Jackson and his Ghanaian friends
Samuel L Jackson, an American actor and film producer, has been receiving a lot of love from his Ghanaian followers, days after his arrival in the West African country.
Mr. Jackson’s trip to Ghana, according to sources, is part of the ‘Year of Return, Ghana 2019’ initiative by the Ghana government to mark 400 years since the slave trade started.
Other reports claimed that he is also in Ghana to shoot a documentary on slavery.
In the past few days, he’s been posting photos about women and children in Ghana going about their daily activities on his Instagram page.
A lot of his Ghanaian followers are happy the ‘Die Hard A Vengeance’ actor has come to town.
“Come through Tema to Passion Pub in Community 6, I got a pint of beer for you brother,” actor Kweku Elliott commented under one of his posts from a market in Ghana.
“Do try to show balanced narrative. Let’s see the extremely beautiful Kempinski Hotel you stayed at in Ghana. Let’s see some infrastructure too and ‘white collar’ humans of Africa. These photos only further propagate the poverty narrative of African countries,” movie director Leila Djansi commented.
NEWS-ONE has come across photos of the actor posing with a number of Ghanaian fans while in town. He did same when he visited the Elmina and Cape Coast Castles.
He has also been to other places such as Jamestown, Tema, +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, where he got a lot of love from Ghanaians.
