What You Need To Know About BOST New CEO

Edwin Provencal

On Monday, August, 26, 2019, it was announced that President Nana Akufo-Addo had appointed a new Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST) Company Limited, in the person of Edwin Provencal.

Mr. Provencal’s appointment came barely 72 hours after George Mensah Okley, chief executive officer of BOST, resigned.

So who is Mr. Provencal and what do you need to know about him?

Mr. Provencal is currently the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Energy, John Peter Amewu.

He has over 15 years experience in Executive Management roles in various organizations.

As MD of Vodafone Wholesale/National Communications Backbone Company and Director of Strategy in Vodafone Ghana, the new BOST CEO led the Strategy Execution via Balanced Scorecard implementation.

That accordingly led to Vodafone leapfrogging from #3 to #2 in Revenue Market Share in the telecoms industry.

Prior to joining the Palladium fraternity, he gathered experience in the telecom industry, the Business Process Outsourcing sector where he is a founding member of Ghana Association of IT Services and companies.

Mr Provencal worked at Ghana Telecoms, K-Net, a leading internet service provider in Ghana.

As a project manager and engineer in the telecom industry, he managed over 15 projects including Wide Area Networks for Ghana Commercial Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, VALCO, Ghana Bauxite, amongst others.

Educational qualification

Mr. Provencal holds an Mphil in Economics, an MBA in Management Information Systems, a BSc in Electrical Engineering, a post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from ACCA and is a PMP from the Project Management Institute in the US

He is also a graduate of College of Executive Coaching, US and is a Certified Balanced Scorecard practitioner.

NCBC (National Communication Backbone Limited) is 100% owned by Vodafone Ghana.

NCBC is the wholesale
arm of VF Ghana and positioned as the access provider of choice enabling the businesses of Licensed ISPs
and MNOs in Ghana and the neighboring countries.

Full P&L responsibility for the wholesale subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana.

Also, he grew customer base by over 500% within 12months
