Justice Tanko Loses Centenarian Dad

The late Alhaji Amadu Omoro

A Justice of the appeals court, Justice Tanko Amadu, has lost his father.

Alhaji Amadu Omoro a resident of Dodowa passed away yesterday at age 105. The deceased was one of the few surviving if not the only veteran of the Gold Coast Constabulary, the colonial military force which saw many actions especially in Ashanti.

The indefatigable Alhaji Amadu Omoro did not rest even after his discharge from the Gold Coast Constabulary, as he proceeded to join the post-independence local government administration.

Upon his retirement from public service, the old man served his people as Chief Imam of the Shai Osudoku District.

With his vast experience about the benefits of education, he invested in the education of his children.

He was a disciplined gentleman whose military background and strict adherence to Islamic values impacted upon the upbringing of his children. He touched many hearts in his lifetime. His interment yesterday at Dodowa attracted many sympathizers from surrounding areas and Accra.
