An Accra-based Angel FM, which started full operation three weeks ago, has caught the attention of a large number of radio listeners in Accra and beyond.
The station, according to its management is working tirelessly to change the current style of radio broadcasting in the capital through well-designed programmes and good music.
Its presence on the airwaves is causing a lot of panic among certain radio stations because of its mode of operation and the kind of music it airs.
The management revealed that the station’s programmes would range from news, music, entertainment, sports, politics and social issues among others.
It mentioned that the station was established to give listeners in Accra and its environs a variety to choose from, as most radio stations had done almost the same thing.
BEATWAVES gathered that one of Ghana’s outspoken radio personalities, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, aka Captain Smart, who joined the station from Adom FM, is gradually making impact with his creative style of presentation.
As one of the pillars behind Angel FM, Captain Smart has carved a niche for himself as one of the most outstanding radio personalities in the capital and has worked diligently to become very popular among his colleagues.
His morning show, dubbed Anopa B?fo?, on Angel FM has segments such as Fabewoso, Asemyi Dika and Old Schoo.
The show addresses social, economic and political issues in our communities by giving the platform to callers to share their experiences on selected issues.
Captain Smart, who is also the station’s director of operations, told BEATWAVES that the station was not in competition with any station, adding, “Our mission is to make Ghana a better place to live.”
He said the station, which had come to stay, was currently working tirelessly to introduce more programmes that would help improve on the socio-economic development of the country.
He said, “We want to give listeners the best on radio. We also want to differentiate ourselves from a cluttered mass market and give our audiences and clients quality service for their time and money.”
He stressed that the station was managed by a team of experts, adding that currently, the station can boast of good presenters whose outputs are being recognized by radio listeners.
Some of Angel FM’s presenters are Ohemaa Woyeje, Nana Yaa Brefo, Kofi Adoma, DJ Willie (all from Adom fm), Kojo Dickson and Saddick Adams from Atinka FM.
