10 Eye Okyere’s Position In Ashaiman

TEN PERSONS have submitted their names to contest as a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The staunch members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) submitted their applications to the Greater Accra Coordinating Council who are sorting them in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Names of the applicants as gathered by DAILY GUIDE include Joseph Ofosu Siaw, staff of Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) and former contestant the last NPP primaries held in the area, Acquah Kow Daniel, Ashaiman NADMO Coordinator, Albert Boakye Okyere, the current Ashaiman MCE and Justice King Essiel, Educationist.

The rest are Alhaji Labaran Yakubu, two times defeated NPP parliamentary aspirants in Ashaiman Constituency, Thomas Abotibala Adongo, former Assembly Member and defeated NPP parliamentary aspirant, Alexander Amanor Narh-Gbeeku, businessman and defeated NPP parliamentary aspirant, Sulemana Abdul-Wahab, Emmanuel Felix Mantey and Alhassan Abdul Ganiyu.

All the candidates filed their application to the Council before May 19, 2021 and are going through interviews.

President Akufo-Addo recently has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to remain at post in acting capacities until new ones are appointed as mandated by law.

According to a communiqué signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare, the MMDCEs have also been warned against taking any policy-related decisions.

“You are to take note of the provision of section 14 (5) of the Presidential (Transition) Act (2012) which states that you shall not take a decision involving a policy issue,” the notice had said.
