THE AKUAPEM South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region was adjudged the overall best district in the 2020 District Performance Ranking (DPR) in the region.
Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, also in the same region, on the other hand, came last.
The Akuapem South Municipality, which was 4th in the 2019 ranking, scored 86 percent in the recent DPR which raised the assembly to the apex of the 33 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Region.
The analysis indicated that across the 33 districts in the region, 22 assemblies scored above the regional average of 66.7% whilst the remaining 11 assemblies scored below 66.7%.
Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly recorded 35%.
In a section of the report outlining key observations and findings, five MMDAs, including Asuogyaman, Fanteakwa South, Kwahu East, Fanteakwa North, and Okere were commended for practising post-contract evaluation.
It was noted that the issuance of certificates to contractors upon completion of projects, was not institutionalised in six MMDAs.
It was also observed that 90% of the MMDAs in the region had updated contracts registered.
Some assemblies did not make entries for some goods and service contracts.
The report also revealed that 45 percent of the MMDAs in the region showed the low commitment of IGF to capital projects.
Under sanitation, it was revealed that 99 percent of the MMDAs could not adduce any evidence of certified open defecation community with only Birim North certifying two communities in the district.
Following Akuapem South was West Akim (82%), Fanteakwa South (82%), Okyere (4th with 80%), Achiase, 4th with (80%), Akuapem North, 6th with 79%, Kwahu East/South, 7th with 78% each, Akyemansa 9th with 76%, Fanteakwa North, 9th with 76%, Kwahu West, 11th with 75%, Abuakwa North, 12th with 74%, Birim South and Birim Central, 12th with 74% each.
The rest are New Juabeng North, 15th with 72%, Denkyembour, 15th with 72%, Asuogyaman, 17th with 71%, Nsawam/Adoagyir,18th with 70%, Upper Manya Krobo, 19th with 67%, Birim North, 20th with 65%, Atiwa East, 20th with 65%, Abuakwa South 22nd with 63%, Suhum, 23rd with 61%, Upper West Akim, 24th with 59%, New Juabeng South, 25th with 56%, Kwaebibirim, 26th with 55%, Lower Manya Krobo, 27th with 54%, Atiwa West, 28th with 53%, Kwahu Afram Plains South, 29th with 52%, Kwahu Afram Plains North, 30th with 49%, Asene/Manso/Akoroso, 30th with 49% and Anyensuano, 32nd with 41% and Yilo Krobo, 33rd with 35%.
