The Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Shaibu, has indicated that the government intends to construct 100km of asphalt roads in the region by the end of 2024.
According to him, the government has completed about 40km out of the 100km already in the region.
“100km of roads will be constructed within the Tamale metropolis and the first phase has seen us doing 40km so by the time we end the 4 years then we will be able to complete the 100km.”
“ As I am speaking now most of the contractor have been paid and they have started coming back to the site to continue work.”
The Tamale metropolis has witnessed massive road construction projects in recent times.
The Industrial area stretch which caused a lot of havoc to motorists in the metropolis has been asphalted with the help of the Northern Regional Minister who lobbied to ensure that the road is fixed before the end of the year.
He assured the good people of Tamale and its environs to have faith in the government noting that they will fulfill promises made to them.
The minister appealed to the people of Tamale to ensure that they maintain to road in order for it to last longer for the betterment of the region.
Mr. Shaibu however urged residents to ensure that they follow the Covid-19 protocols during the festive season.
“ I want to plead with the people of Tamale to protect themselves by wearing their noise mask, wash their hands regularly , practice social distance and other protocols because we need everyone alive .”
Residents in Tamale lauded thegovernment , Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the regional minister for fulfilling their promise to asphalt most of the roads in the Northern region.
“ We are very happy to see the number of roads being asphalted in Tamale especially the industrial area road which was killing us due to the dust it was creating everyday. We want to thank the government for the great work,” a resident said.
