Brighter Days Ahead

PRESIDENT NANA Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

PRESIDENT NANA Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism in the country’s ability to rise above its current obstacles and revive its fortunes.

In his New Year message to the public on social media, President Akufo-Addo expressed his belief in the Ghanaian potential.

“I am a firm, passionate believer in our national potential. We have it in us to rise and revive our fortunes. There are brighter days ahead for mother Ghana,” he said.

On his social media page, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has also expressed hope about the future of Ghana despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 on the economy and people.

“Notwithstanding the global economic impact of COVID-19, I am very optimistic about Ghana’s future and 2022 should see us continue on the path of economic transformation that we are embarking on,” he added.

In his New Year Message to Ghanaians, Dr. Bawumia said, “I thank God for seeing us through 2021. I also pray for those whom we unfortunately lost, during the year.”

He prayed for a peaceful year saying, “As we have entered the New Year, I pray that Ghana continues to be peaceful. We are different ethnicities; different religions but we are all children of God. What makes Ghana unique is our unity in diversity and we should continue to focus on that.”

Year Under Review

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government also gave an account of activities it has undertaken in the year 2021.

In the education sector, it completed 29 E-blocks, expanded those without dormitories and dining halls as well as provided school buses, staff pick-up and motorbikes for supervisors.

In the energy sector, the government worked to ensure stable electricity to Ghanaians and for the first time in nine years, the Volta River Authority made GH¢156 million for power generation after nine years of losses.

In the health sector, the NPP government also completed the construction of a polyclinic at Bamboi, four district hospitals at Buipe, Sawla, Akaasu, Akyem Mampong, Ahankrasu, Koforidua (near Offinso), Sampraso and Tiawia as vaccination of citizens against COVID-19 continues.

It further added that the digitisation agenda was making the provision of government services efficient for all Ghanaians, among others.

The party, therefore, called on Ghanaians to consider the good projects that the Nana Akufo-Addo-led administration has undertaken and the others still being constructed to endorse it for greater works in the years ahead.
