GLICO General yesterday announced a GH¢ 2,050,000 personal accident insurance cover for the entire playing body and official contingent of 41.
At the presentation ceremony at the Sports Ministry, Managing Director, GLICO General, Andrew Achampong-Kyei said, “…GLICO is pleased to provide for the entire playing body and official contingent with a personal accident insurance cover of over two million cedis.
“The cover will protect the entire contingent against all forms of accidents and particularly for the players, be such accidents occurring on or off the pitch. It is basically a 24 hour cover until the team returns to the shores of Ghana.”
The GLICO MD added, “We believe this would go a long way in boosting the confidence of the team in playing fully and confidently knowing that they have a trusted partner in GLICO. We love football at GLICO and we are happy to support football teams in diverse ways to ensure victory and recognition for Ghana.”
Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif expressed profuse thanks to GLICO for the gesture saying,” We are confident the Black Stars will make Ghana proud in Cameroon, we thank you for heeding to the president’s call for corporate support for our various national teams.”
GLICO also made a donation of an undisclosed amount to the team for preparation and coordination of the tournament.
Ghana will begin their campaign against Morocco on Monday before facing Gabon and Comoros at the Group stages as the 24-nation tournament which kicks off this Sunday in Cameroon.
