TEN SUSPECTS are in the firm grip of the police in Kumasi after they were nabbed in possession of wraps of powdery substances, suspected to be cocaine.
The suspects, including one female, were apprehended in some ghettos at Fumesua, Amakom and Mayanka, after a police swoop.
The unannounced security exercise took place around 4:30am on August 17, 2022 by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) to help flush out illegal drug peddlers.
Among those apprehended were Kwaku Frimpong, 67; Anas Frimpong, 30; Felix Kwarteng, 19; Frank Opoku, 19; and Abena Rose, 30; the only female suspect.
The other remaining suspects are Kwabena Baffo, 33; Prince Oduro Nkansah, 35; Sebastian Kwame Boakye, 26; Kaba Adey, 49; and Abdul Rauf Tahiru, 22 years old.
A police document, which confirmed the arrest and sighted by the DAILY GUIDE, said the suspects are being processed and those found culpable would be prosecuted.
“On 17/08/2022, at about 0430 hours, personnel from DLEU/ASH embarked on operation to flush out illegal drug peddlers, users and suspected criminals at Fumesua, Amakom and Mayanka respectively and arrested suspects.
“A search conducted on the suspects and their places of arrest, led to the retrieval of wraps of powdery substances suspected to be cocaine and quantities of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis”.
The police document disclosed that all the “Suspects are in custody to be processed and those connected with exhibits will be prosecuted”.
