Singer Naira Marley, and his associate Sam Larry, have been released on bail by a Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, Lagos State, after spending over a month in police custody.
The court presided over by Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, granted them bail with a sum of N20 million.
This development follows a fundamental rights lawsuit filed by Naira Marley and Sam Larry against the police and Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, seeking N40 million in compensation.
The court imposed several conditions for their bail, including the submission of their international passports and the provision of three sureties.
As part of the bail conditions, both Naira Marley and Sam Larry are required to make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Magistrate Olatunbosun emphasized that any attempts to contact her would be closely monitored and could be revealed in open court proceedings.
Naira Marley voluntarily surrendered to the police on October 3 in connection with cyberbullying allegations related to the death of his former protege, Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Imole Aloba), who was signed to Naira Marley’s record label.
The circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death on September 12 are still under investigation.
The granting of bail marks a significant development in the legal proceedings, offering Naira Marley and Sam Larry some relief after their extended period in custody. The case continues to draw attention as it unfolds in the legal arena.
