Renowned music producer Fred Kyei Mensah has publicly announced his allegiance to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential flagbearer, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Kyei Mensah expressed his belief that Dr. Bawumia would outperform former President John Mahama and declared his intention to actively campaign for the Vice-President in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“In 2024, my alliance is with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and I will campaign for him,” he declared in his Facebook statement.
The music producer, credited for producing the popular hit song “Cobra” by Obaapa Christy, took a trip down memory lane in his post, recounting his political journey that dates back to 1992. He highlighted his involvement with various political parties, including supplying fuel to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party and actively participating in the activities of different candidates such as Dr. Busia, Victor Owusu, JA Kufuor, Atta Mills, and Nana Akufo-Addo.
Fred Kyei Mensah’s political engagement extended to recording jingles for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and forming the Creative Arts for Change group to support the NPP.
In anticipation of potential criticism, he urged his followers to respect his political choice, stating, “Be circumspect when you come on my Facebook wall during my political mood. Will not spare you if you try to disrespect me. I am black and white.”
Fred Kyei Mensah’s declaration adds a notable voice to the political landscape, and his commitment to actively campaign for Dr. Bawumia signals a growing momentum as the 2024 elections draw near.
