The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and his colleague of Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, came close to fighting on the floor of Parliament yesterday over money.
The incident happened while the day’s proceedings were underway with the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, in the chair.
The maverick politician, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, was overhead shouting at Sylvester Tetteh to bring back his money.
As Mr. Tetteh approached Mr. Ohene Agyapong, tensions rose, forcing the intervention of Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to prevent a physical altercation.
In order to restore order in the chamber, the Effutu MP forcibly moved Sylvester Tetteh away from Kennedy Agyapong.
The Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro MP was attempting to exchange pleasantries with the Assin Central MP when the latter fired the first salvo.
This escalated into a furious verbal exchange between the two, with Ken strongly pressing Tetteh to step aside.
Many MPs were taken aback by the abrupt altercation as the argument became increasingly heated with the two standing toe-to-toe in a fit of anger.
The underlying cause of the heated exchange between the two MPs remains unknown.
Meanwhile, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Deputy Majority Leader, brokered peace between the two colleague MPs yesterday by holding a joint meeting with Kennedy Agyapong and Sylvester Tetteh.
