64 Youth Get GNPC’s Support

The GNPC Foundation in collaboration with Aseda Foundation in the Western Region has supported the training of 64 youth from different parts of the Western North Region to acquire livelihood empowerment skills.

The youth were trained in steel bending, motor vehicle electricals, interior decoration, dressmaking, hairdressing, tailoring, car welding, glass welding, masonry and carpentry.

The rest include general electricals, tiling, aluminium fabrication, plumbing, motor vehicle mechanics, spraying, bakery, bead making, make-up and shoe making, among others.

At the graduation ceremony held at the Trinity Assemblies of God Church in Bibiani, the beneficiaries were given start-up tools which included sewing machines, industrial machines, stand dryers, local ovens, cylinders, welding machines, cutting machines, and polishing machines.

The artisans after excelling in their NVTI exams were also taken through some training to understand the basic standards of business.

Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Kwesi Eduah, charged the artisans to make prudent use of the tools to help improve their living standards and that of their families and dependants.

The Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso who is also the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II, also urged the artisans to use the tools to establish their own enterprises.

He also called on them to be worthy ambassadors of the Foundation and thanked the company for designing the project to impact the lives of the youth in his region positively.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Bibiani, Paul Andoh also praised GNPC for investing a significant portion of the oil revenue into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

The Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Albert Obeng Boateng was hopeful that when the artisans use the tools for their intended purposes, they would become financially independent in the foreseeable future.

The CEO of Aseda Foundation, Madam Diana Adjei, thanked GNPC for the continuous collaboration which is geared towards impacting the lives and helping the Ghanaian youth in the informal sector achieve their dreams.
