The late George Darko
The family of the late King of Burger Highlife, George Darko, has announced May 1 as the date for a forty-day observance for the late musician.
The observance service will be held at the Salem Park in Akropong Akuapem at 8 am.
Until his death on March 20, the late George Darko was the Tufuhene of Akropong Akuapem with the stool name Nana Apem Darko I.
He died aged 73. He was known for his skills as a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter.
George Darko achieved enormous success in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and his songs continue to rank among the most classic and timeless highlife compositions in Ghanaian music history.
Some of his popular songs include ‘Moni Palava’, ‘Prempremsiwaa’, ‘Mensei Da’, ‘Ako Te Brofo’, ‘Bire Bire’ among others.
