One person is reported to have been injured after a tree fell on a motorbike and a vehicle during the rainstorm that preceded Monday morning’s downpour at Cantonments in Accra.
Report indicate that the motorbike rider in an attempt to evade the falling tree, crossed paths with the descending trunk, while a military officer who was also caught in the chaos around Cantonments escaped unhurt.
According to reports, the driver of the vehicle, who is said to be a military officer, escaped unhurt while the injured person was rushed to the hospital.
However, the motorbike rider was rushed to the Police Hospital for medical attention as the tree fell on the lower limb of his body.
Dr. Kingsford Adams, Director for Parks and Gardens, who confirmed the incident when he interacted with some journalists, said that the repercussions of the fallen tree disrupted traffic flow, compelling some drivers not to use that road.
Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred at the Kotoka International Airport where approximately six vehicles parked around the Landing Restaurant got damaged when trees fell on them.
