Freddie Blay Extols Otumfuo

GNPC delegation with Otumfuo

Board Chairman of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Freddie Blay, has showered praises on His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.

According to him, the Asante King’s 25-year reign on the sacred Golden Stool of Asanteman has been filled with monumental achievements, which have benefitted the entire country.

He has therefore prayed fervently for longer life, good health, blessings and God’s continuous protection for Otumfuo so the country and its people would continue to benefit from him.

Mr. Blay made the remarks when he led a GNPC delegation of board and management members to pay a courtesy call on Otumfuo at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany, Gina Blay, wife of Freddie Blay, was part of the GNPC delegation. They were at the palace to wish Otumfuo well on his Silver Jubilee and 74th birthday.

Mr. Blay also used the historic occasion to introduce the newly appointed CEO of the GNPC, Joseph Dadzie to Otumfuo, and asked for the King’s blessing and support for him to succeed.

“We at the GNPC thank Otumfuo for what he has done for mother Ghana in the last 25 years as the King of Asante. We pray for long life and prosperity for Otumfuo to continue his good works for Asanteman and Ghana.

“Otumfuo has also played pivotal roles, behind the scenes, to the success story of the GNPC and we are grateful to him. I pledge that we shall continue to serve and honour Otumfuo,” he said.

The GNPC, he said, has carried out some projects in Asanteman in the President Akufo-Addo-led government, stressing that the national cake has been shared fairly so far.

President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II and Justin Kodua, who are both members of the GNPC Board, as well as Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, GNPC Manager of Institutional Reporting, were among the delegation.

Otumfuo Happy To See Gina

Otumfuo said he was elated to see Mrs. Gina Blay, whom he referred to as his ‘wife’ and thanked Freddie Blay for his kind words and “bringing Gina Blay to the Manhyia Palace.”

According to the King, who was beaming with broad smiles, he has not set eyes on Gina Blay for a long time, therefore, he was extremely happy to see her in good spirits once again.

“Freddie Blay thanks for bringing my wife Gina Blay to me. I’m happy to see her,” Otumfuo repeated on a lighter note, adding that the GNPC is a key asset of the country so it should be well managed.

He welcomed the newly appointed GNPC CEO, Joseph Dadzie, and urged him to work in peace with his management and board members so the GNPC would thrive.

The Asantehene also asked for continuous blessing from Freddie Blay and the entire GNPC members so that he would have the grace and strength to deliver more for the country.
