One Arrested In NPP Walewale Primary Disruption

 

One person, Kamara Bawah, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for causing damage to some ballot papers during the vote counting process in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Walewale parliamentary primary re-run in the North East region.

The suspect is currently in custody assisting Police investigation.

A Police statement indicates that security has since been strengthened within Walewale and its environs to ensure law and order.

The Electoral Commission, has since declared the NPP Walewale parliamentary primary rerun between the Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama and the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Walewale Constituency and former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, null and void.

The 3rd National Vice Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Osman Masawudu, addressing journalists said the incident has been reported to the national level of the party and that NEC will declare the winner or otherwise today.
