PNC Chairman Dazes Mahama From Deep Sleep Over Bernard Mornah Disqualification

Samson Asaki Awingobit

John Dramani Mahama, the opposition NDC’s presidential candidate, has been chastised by the National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Samson Asaki Awingobit, for abandoning their Presidential Candidate, Bernard Mornah after his disqualification from contesting for the Presidency by the Electoral Commission.

Bernard Mornah was left in the dark by Mahama and his party executives, with no one bothering to call and console him after his disqualification, having aligned with the NDC for a long time.

This apparent betrayal has raised eyebrows, especially considering Mornah’s known support for the NDC.

In a shocking twist, it was revealed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, was the one who reached out to Mornah to offer consolation.

This gesture has left many questioning the NDC’s commitment to its allies.

The Fallout

Chairman Awingobit expressed disappointment and anger at Mahama’s silence, stating that “everybody in Ghana knows that Bernard Mornah is an appendage of the opposition NDC, but when he was disqualified by the EC, neither John Mahama nor any of his party executives called him to console him”.

This perceived abandonment has sparked debate about the NDC’s treatment of its allies and the party’s priorities.

A Change of Heart

The PNC chairman’s accusation has suddenly dawned on John Mahama waking up from his deep slumber. Speaking at a campaign rally, Mahama noted, “The EC is discriminatory sometimes; PNC is a more worthy political party than several parties on the ballot paper”.

John Mahama’s recent comments about the Electoral Commission’s alleged discriminatory practices and the PNC being a more worthy political party have raised questions about his sincerity.
