Bawumia Slams Mahama Over Digitalization

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate, has launched a scathing attack on John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), over his stance on digitalization’s role in Ghana’s economic growth.

Speaking to the youth on Sunday, November 3, Bawumia argued that Mahama’s lack of understanding of digital advancements makes him unfit to lead the country.

Dr Bawumia emphasized the critical role of digitalization in Ghana’s economic progress, citing its benefits for citizens and the nation’s economic growth.

He questioned how former President John Mahama could claim there’s no link between digitization and the economy, especially in the 4th industrial revolution.

“How can we have a leader who doesn’t appreciate the value of digitization in a digital global economy?” Dr Bawumia asked.

The NPP candidate also criticized John Mahama’s emphasis on infrastructure as a primary achievement, suggesting it’s secondary to the current administration’s digital-focused approach.

“Our infrastructure is superior to his,” Bawumia said, adding that Mahama’s statement that infrastructure doesn’t matter for the economy is puzzling.

Furthermore, Dr Bawumia expressed skepticism about Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, questioning its feasibility.

“His signature 24-hour economy has defied explanation and understanding,” Dr Bawumia said, labeling John Mahama a “second-hand failed president”.

Meanwhile former President John Mahama has explained that the proposed “24-Hour Economy Policy” aims to revitalize Ghana’s economy through targeted interventions.

However, Dr Bawumia’s criticism highlights the differing visions for Ghana’s economic future.
