Special Voting Kicks Off Today In 14 Regions

Today, Monday December 2, 2024, marks the beginning of special voting in Ghana, ahead of the December 7 general elections.
However, personnel in the Eastern and Western Regions will have to wait a bit longer, as the Electoral Commission has postponed the special voting in these regions until Thursday.

According to a statement from the National Election Security Taskforce, all personnel of the security agencies are directed to come out in their numbers to cast their votes today.

This special voting exercise is crucial, as it allows security personnel and media practitioners who will be on duty during the general elections, to cast their ballots.

The Electoral Commission has assured that personnel in the Eastern and Western Regions will be allowed to cast their votes on Thursday.

The commission has collaborated with political parties to ensure a smooth voting process.

Ahead of the December 7 elections, the country is witnessing a highly contested campaign between the two main parties: the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP’s candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is facing off against the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama.

The special voting exercise is a critical component of the electoral process, ensuring that security personnel and other essential workers can exercise their right to vote. With the general elections just around the corner, all eyes are on Ghana as it prepares to choose its next leader.
