Cynthia Animah Boadu
An armed robbery incident has left the Bono Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Cynthia Anima Boadu, and her entourage shaken but unharmed.
The incident occurred last weekend as the regional director and some staff members were returning from a parliamentary dialogue session in the Banda Constituency, which formed part of the NCCE’s mandate to educate the public about the upcoming December 7 elections.
According to the victims, the robbers, numbering about seven and armed with suspected AK-47 rifles, fired several warning shots to force motorists to stop.
For over 40 minutes, the robbers searched approximately 20 vehicles, robbing passengers of their money, phones, and other valuables.
The DAILY GUIDE has learned that a report has been filed with the Wenchi Police for investigation. The police is now calling on the public to implement measures to prevent the increasing frequency of robberies on highways in the Bono Region, especially as the yuletide approaches.
United Television (UT) Bono Regional correspondent William Arthur, who was with the team, confirmed the incident.
He stated that although they escaped physically unhurt, the psychological impact of the ordeal has been significant.
