Tyla Breaks Beyoncé’s Spotify Record

Tyla and Beyoncé

South African artiste, Tyla, has set a new milestone, surpassing Beyoncé’s record for the most streamed album by a black female artiste released in 2024.

Her self-titled debut album has amassed 1.565 billion Spotify streams, eclipsing Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter at 1.564 billion.

This achievement makes Tyla’s album the all-time most streamed by a female African artiste.

Its lead single, Water, has nearly a billion streams and won the inaugural Best African Music Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards.

Despite its success, Tyla’s album and deluxe edition were excluded from the 67th Grammy nominations.

Nonetheless, she remains the most awarded African artiste in 2024, with accolades including 20 awards, such as a Grammy, three MTV EMAs, and two BET Awards.

Tyla’s groundbreaking achievements spotlight her as a global force in music and a trailblazer for African artistes on the international stage.
