The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has announced the return of the Gong Gong Awards with the new name, Gong Gong Festival of Creativity & Awards.
The awards ceremony, set to take place from Monday, April 28 to Saturday, May 3, 2025, will be a reinvigorated celebration of excellence in advertising, branding, and creative communications.
In a statement issued by the AAG and signed by its President, Andrew Ackah said, “After a two-year break, the prestigious awards ceremony is back, reimagined to align with global transformations in the advertising industry.”
This year’s event will be a week-long festival, culminating in the much-anticipated17th Awards Night on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Themed, “Disrupt & Inspire: Recognizing Brands and Agencies that Challenge Norms and Redefine Creativity,” the festival will celebrate outstanding creativity and innovation in Ghana’s advertising industry.
Mr. Andrew Ackah, said in the statement that the refreshed Gong Gong Festival of Creativity and Awards will feature an exciting lineup of activities, including a Brand and Creativity Exhibition at the Accra Mall, where industry players and consumers can experience cutting-edge advertising and branding excellence.
The festival will also host panel discussions, masterclasses, and networking sessions to foster collaboration and innovation in the advertising industry.
Celebrating Advertising, Branding Excellence
He said the Awards, which have been a hallmark of Ghana’s advertising industry for nearly three decades, will now include 17 award categories that recognize not only creative agencies but also companies that own award-winning and outstanding brands.
“Under each award category there would be, at least, three different awards to be competed for. The awards will honor the most impactful advertising campaigns and creative works spanning 2023 and 2024,” he said.
The categories are Radio Craft Gong Gong, TV Craft Gong Gong, Press Craft Gong Gong, Out of Home (OOH) Gong Gong, Film Gong Gong and Film Craft Gong Gong, Media Craft Gong Gong and Integrated Campaign Gong Gong, and PR Gong Gong.
Other categories are Social & Influencer Gong Gong, Design Gong Gong, Design Craft Gong Gong, Digital Excellence Gong Gong, Brand Experience & Activation Gong Gong, Gong Gong for Clients: (a) Best Company in Media Strategy (b) Best Company in Social Media & Influencer marketing (c) Best Creative Brand for 2023 d. Best Creative Brand for 2024, Gong Gong for Good and the Platinum Gong Gong.
