Dr. Boateng congratulates Chirapatre’s Nkosuohene Nyame
Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Deputy Managing Director of DBS Industries Limited, Architect Dr. David Nyame Tawiah, has been enstooled as the Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of the Chirapatre Traditional Area.
The traditional ceremony, held at the Chief’s palace, was marked by rich cultural displays and attended by a large gathering of chiefs, public and civil servants, academics, and community members.
Dr. Nyame Tawiah, who now bears the stool name, Nana Kwabena Ankomah Nyame, took the oath of allegiance and office before the Chief of Chirapatre, Nana Offe Kusi Wiredu II.
A former Visual Arts student of Kumasi High School and alumnus of KNUST, Dr. Nyame Tawiah performed all customary rites at a durbar on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 officially marking his induction into the traditional leadership of Chirapatre.
In his address, Nana Offe Kusi Wiredu II charged the new Nkosuohene to lead with integrity, fairness, and firmness. He revealed that Dr. Nyame Tawiah’s philanthropic efforts and their personal engagements convinced him that the KNUST lecturer was the right person to drive development in the area.
Speaking to the media after his enstoolment, Nana Kwabena Ankomah Nyame pledged to spearhead development at Chirapatre, with education at the forefront. He announced plans to establish a scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy students in Chirapatre and to renovate several dilapidated school structures in the community.
He also outlined other priority areas including healthcare, sanitation, sports, and skills training. The new Nkosuohene emphasised his intention to create opportunities for the youth to become self-employed or acquire vocational skills.
“My number one priority after accepting this huge honour is to launch an educational fund to ensure every child in Chirapatre gets the opportunity to reach their highest academic potential and become future doctors, architects, and professionals,” he stated.
The enstoolment ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including former Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, Dr. Daniel Boateng, Managing Director of DBS Industries and Precise FM, and representatives from Kumasi High School.
Also in attendance were staff and old students (Mmeranteɛ) of Kumasi High School, KNUST alumni, workers of De-Vita School – a private institution owned by the new Nkosuohene – as well as friends and well-wishers who gathered to support the respected academic and professional.
