Two Arrested For Possessing 86 Parcels Of Suspected Indian Hemp

The suspects

The Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command’s Anti-Robbery Team in a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking has arrested two suspects in possession of a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspects, John Dzeble, 34, and Adzobi Mesiwotso, 24, were apprehended on Sunday, June 15, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation.

Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted an Opel Astra vehicle with registration number GT 6430-13. The vehicle, driven by John Dzeble with Adzobi Mesiwotso as the passenger, was stopped and thoroughly searched by the officers.

During the search, police discovered 86 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp, cleverly concealed within various compartments of the vehicle. The parcels were hidden in the engine bay, door panels, and boot area of the car, in what police believe was a deliberate attempt to evade detection.

In addition to the illicit parcels, officers also retrieved a portable digital weighing scale and a roll of masking tape, believed to have been used for packaging the narcotics.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks in the region.

The Oti Regional Police Command has lauded the swift and professional actions of the officers involved in the operation.

The Command reaffirmed its dedication to combating drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety across the region.

Further investigations are underway, and the suspects are expected to be arraigned in court soon.
