The University of Ghana’s Health Services Directorate has issued an alert regarding a recent resurgence in COVID-19 cases within the university community.
In the statement previewed to dailyguideonline indicated that several suspected and confirmed cases have been reported in the immediate vicinity, prompting the university to take precautionary measures.
“In light of this development, the Health Services Directorate is urging all staff, students, and visitors to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to recommended preventive measures to mitigate the risk of infection and community spread” the statement read.
The statement further gave additional guidelines which emphasizes on the Wearing of face masks properly, especially in enclosed or crowded spaces.
The Washing of hands frequently with soap under running water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
Maintaining of physical distancing of at least one meter whenever possible and avoiding of large gatherings unless absolutely necessary.
It also added that staff and students must ensure good ventilation in offices, lecture halls, and meeting rooms while urging persons experiencing any flu-like symptoms to stay at home and seek prompt medical attention.
“In response to the resurgence, the Health Services Directorate has reactivated its COVID-19 Response Protocols, which include screening and triage measures at health facilities.”
The situation is being closely monitored, and regular updates will be provided to the university community” part of the statement read.
The health directorate called on the university community to work together to protect themselves during this challenging time.
