Veteran Highlife singer and actress Paulina Oduro has revealed her deep admiration for legendary Ghanaian musician Kojo Antwi, describing a time when she was “besotted” with him but chose not to pursue a romantic relationship.

Speaking in an interview on Adom TV on June 29, 2025, the celebrated entertainer opened up about her feelings for Kojo Antwi, whom she described as a longtime friend. According to her, she once confessed her admiration to him, only to be met with light-hearted dismissal.

“I was totally besotted with Kojo Antwi. I knew him personally; he was a friend. I told him how I felt, but he laughed and said I should stop joking,” she recounted.

Paulina explained that although she felt disappointed by his reaction, she did not press the issue further. She said she valued their friendship and chose to respect the fact that Kojo Antwi was in a relationship at the time.

“I felt disappointed, but I didn’t want to force anything because I valued our friendship. Back then, he was in a relationship, though not yet married, so I held back,” she added.

When asked whether she backed off to avoid interfering in his relationship, Paulina clarified that it wasn’t the main reason.

“That wasn’t really it. I just think he didn’t take me seriously. I was also in a relationship then. I knew it wouldn’t work between us, but I still wanted him to know how much I admired him,” she said.

The singer also revealed that during that period, she was married to renowned guitarist Alfred Bannerman, with whom she shares three children.

“At the time, I was married to Alfred Bannerman. We have three kids together. Though we’re no longer married, we remain very good friends,” she noted.

Paulina Oduro’s revelation has since sparked nostalgia and admiration from fans, who continue to celebrate her legacy in Ghana’s entertainment industry and beyond.
