MTN GHANA will headline this year’s Small and Medium Enterprises Ghana Awards (SMEGA) as title sponsor to celebrate the country’s best performing SMEs and individuals of entrepreneurial excellence.
Themed, “Sustaining Ghana’s SME’s in a Globally Competitive Market,” the awards scheme since 2013, has served as the apex body of trust and benchmark of consistency recognition among SME business owners and individuals of entrepreneurial excellence with an independently verified and data driven award scheme in Ghana.
Addressing dignitaries at the launch, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, MTN Ghana, Angela Mensah-Poku, said MTN decided to partner with the organisers due to their commitment to supporting SMEs in the country.
“SMEs deserve our recognition, our investment and our collective commitment and we are produced in association with key players doing amazing things,” he stated.
Madam Angela added that the awards will highlight the real stories of SMEs’ struggle to sustain businesses, “and at MTN we are proud to walk the journey with you, not as supporters but as active partners, cheering you along as you are not just building businesses but legacies.”
She also emphasised MTN’s commitment to delivering digital solutions for Africa’s progress,”whether it’s through digital tools, capacity building, financial inclusion via mobile money, we are investing in you because we believe that the next big Ghanaian business will come today from an SME.”
Director of SMEG, Kwasi Ofori said out of the 18 listed categories, 13 is competitive while 5 are non-competitive.
They are Rising Star, SME Researcher, SME Achiever, SME Industrial Sector, SME Product Excellence, SME High Impact, SME Long Service, SME Service Sector, SME Woman Entrepreneur, SME Agri-Business, SME Brand Discovery, SME Best Overall, SME Media Reportage, SME Digital and Technology, SME Leadership Excellence, SME Trade Sector, SME Export Excellence and SME Industry Shapers awards.
