A 32-YEAR-old man at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region is battling for his life in the hospital after being, allegedly, attacked with a sharp knife by his girlfriend.
According to reports, there was a slight misunderstanding between victim, Atsu Maxwell and the suspect, who has been identified by the police as Yaa Esther, aged 20.
What initially seemed like a verbal tussle between the two lovebirds suddenly turned bloody as Yaa Esther, who was wielding a sharp knife, surprisingly butchered Maxwell with it.
Maxwell, reportedly, lost a lot of blood after Esther inflicted knife wounds on his head, chest and shoulder. He became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Atsu Zorka, a brother of the victim, reported the case to the Nyinahin District Police, who rushed to the crime scene and apprehended the suspect to assist in investigations.
“On 30/07/2025 at 0845 hours, Atsu Zorka, aged 31, of Akomfre, reported that, at about 0700 hours same day, misunderstanding ensued between his brother Atsu Maxwell, aged 32, and his girlfriend Yaa Esther, aged 20, in their room at Nyinahin.
“That Yaa Esther inflicted knife wounds on Atsu Maxwell, and he was rushed to Nyinahin Community Hospital for treatment.
“On receipt of the report, police proceeded to the said facility and met victim Atsu Maxwell on admission at the emergency ward with a deep cut on the head, chest and left shoulder, being attended to by Doctors,” the police report disclosed.
Maxwell, the police said, was still unconscious so he could not talk to them (police) when they visited the hospital, noting, “Photographs of the victim was taken for evidence, and medical form issued to the complainant on behalf of the victim for endorsement.”
According to the Nyinahin District Police, suspect Yaa Esther has been apprehended and the exhibit knife has also been retrieved, to support police’s investigations into the incident.
