‘Peacemaker’ Killed While Separating Fight

Joseph Laweh aka ‘Junior’ lying dead

A 23-YEAR-old man has unfortunately lost his life while trying to separate two people, who were virtually at each other’s throats at Attaso, a farming community in the Ashanti Region.

There was a misunderstanding between one Awudu and an unknown boy over a stolen gold detector machine on August 12, 2025, so Joseph Laweh, now deceased, tried to ensure peace between them.

Awudu, who was eager to physically attack the unknown boy, was reportedly restrained by Laweh, an action which infuriated him (Awudu) to inflict cutlass wounds on Laweh, to shockingly end his life.

The case has since been reported to the Toase District Police in the Ashanti Region, who are currently doing their utmost best to apprehend suspect Awudu from his hideout to assist in investigations.

“On 12/08/25 at about 1900 hours, Dauda Alhassan of Attaso called at the Toase Police Station with a report that at about 1500 hours, same day, there was misunderstanding between one Awudu and a certain boy whose name he could not remember about a stolen gold detector machine.

“That Joseph Laweh alias ‘Junior’ now deceased went to rescue him. Awudu became aggrieved and in the process inflicted cutlass wound on deceased’s forearm. Deceased was rushed to Nkawie Toase Government Hospital for treatment, but died while receiving treatment,” a police report said.

It indicated that upon receipt of the information, police proceeded to the hospital’s Accident and Emergency ward and met deceased Joseph Laweh, aged 23 years old, lying dead.

The deceased’s body, according to the police report sighted by the paper, “was examined and there was a deep cut on his forearm which had been stitched,” adding that “No arrest has been made and efforts are underway to arrest the suspect for questioning.”
