About three homes around the Cape Coast station in Takoradi were razed down by a fire outbreak which occurred around 9:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The cause of the fire was not ascertained. However, properties worth thousands of Ghana Cedis were destroyed.
Even though personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly, little could be salvaged.
The firefighters managed to extinguish the fire with two fire tenders.
One of the affected persons, Ekow Ocran, said he lost everything in his apartment to the fire.
Mr. Ocran said he suspected the inferno started from a wooden structure near their house.
“I went somewhere early morning and when I was returning, some kids around run towards me and said fire has engulfed our house.
“We rushed to the scene and attempted to control the fire while others tried to reach the Fire Service.
“The fire was running wild so there was little we could do. Later, the fire tenders arrived and the personnel managed to quench the fire,” he narrated.
Another victim, Daniel Sackey Dadzie, said he also lost everything.
“My television, furniture, refrigerator, bed, microwave and other items have all been destroyed,” he added.
Kwame Assiful, who was also affected, said he was able to salvage a handful of coins. “All the bank notes I kept in my room were burnt.
“I also salvaged some utensils and clothes. I cannot tell how much money I have lost to the fire,” he stated.
Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional Fire Service, DO3 Emmanuel Bonney, pointed out that his outfit was investigating the cause of the fire.
