Kofi Adams addressing players and others
GHANA STRENGTHENED their push for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
The result, which followed a 1-1 draw against Chad last week, has boosted the Black Stars’ chances of booking a ticket to next year’s tournament.
The win has once again stirred optimism among Ghanaians, with many recalling the team’s historic run to the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Reflecting on that achievement, Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams expressed confidence that the current squad has the quality to go even further on the global stage, urging the team to set their sights high.
“The Black Stars must aim at playing in the final of the 2026 World Cup if the team qualify,” he said. “We must aim to better the performance we achieved in South Africa. The President, John Mahama, has brought some goodwill to the country, and I strongly believe that we have the best players to make that history.”
Ghana’s qualification journey is not yet complete. The Black Stars will travel to Bangui in October to face the Central African Republic before wrapping up their campaign with a decisive home clash against Comoros.
With momentum building, the team knows that consistency will be key in turning hope into history.
